Who stands behind the A.I.P.C.L. and original-laguiole.de
World of innovation was founded in 1995. We have been selling Laguiole knives since 2004 and today, with original-laguiole.de, we carry the largest range of Laguiole pocket knives in Europe.
What our work is for
We devote our work to preserving and supporting the tradition of the Laguiole knife makers. That is not a line for a brochure. It means we visit workshops, we watch cutlers file their springs, and we ask questions a dealer does not usually ask: where does the spring come from? Who filed the bee? How many knives can you make in a week if you want to make them properly?
What we see there is what we want to pass on. A Laguiole is not something you take off a shelf. It is the result of a hundred movements of the hand and more, of years of training and of an attitude no data sheet can capture. That is the passion of the knife maker we carry to the customer, and the videos by Mr. Laguiole keep it alive.
The A.I.P.C.L.
With the A.I.P.C.L. we have built up a system over many years whose purpose is to protect this tradition. Not as an advertising promise, but as a record that can be checked: every knife with its own number, its forge and its owner.
In that time we have certified well over 25,000 Laguiole pocket knives. Every one of them stands for a person who knows for certain that they hold a piece of French art and tradition in their hand, and not a piece of sheet metal with a borrowed name.
The OL Round Table
We remain committed to this tradition. With the OL Round Table we take the work with the forges to an entirely new level: it is no longer we alone who decide which manufactory is admitted to the A.I.P.C.L., but the circle of the forges themselves. Those who know the trade from the inside judge more surely than any inspection from outside.
We protect our culture
European cooperation is in place. German and French houses, collectors and workshops, dealers and knife makers pull together here, because they would all lose the same thing if nobody acted. We protect our culture.
Does your Laguiole not have an A.I.P.C.L. certificate of authenticity yet?
You can have it registered afterwards, no matter where you bought the knife. We check from your photographs whether it really comes from a French forge, assign it to that forge and register it under its own number. Your knife then has the same page and the same document as any knife bought from us.
The examination costs 10.00 euros. If the result is negative, we refund it.
