How does the A.I.P.C.L. card work?

The A.I.P.C.L. card is far more than a piece of paper, it is the key to your knife's identity. With it you enter a world in which tradition, craftsmanship and complete transparency come together.

For many years the A.I.P.C.L. certificate of authenticity has guaranteed the authenticity of French Laguiole and Thiers knives. Since September 2025 there is also the A.I.P.C.L. card: a card in credit card format carrying your knife's number and a QR code. It is not enclosed automatically, it is issued on request, for any knife from the great forges of France.

A QR code for instant verificationEvery card carries its own QR code. A quick scan with your phone opens your personal certificate of authenticity. No numbers to type, no searching. Immediate, reliable, unambiguous.
Your personal certificate areaOn aipcl.com more than a document awaits you. You can see when your knife was bought, which dealer it came from and who owns it now. Your knife is therefore not only certified, it is given a complete record of its origin, documented for good.
Confidence when resellingThis traceability is what makes the A.I.P.C.L. card so valuable at the moment of resale. Any interested buyer can see at once: this knife is genuine, made by hand in France, not an import and not mass production.

And that is exactly what matters, because more than 80 per cent of the Laguiole knives sold in Europe do not come from France at all, but from the Far East, from China or Pakistan. With the A.I.P.C.L. card you stand apart from that crowd and hold a piece of French heritage in your hands.

Our ambition is to establish the A.I.P.C.L. card as the only certificate of authenticity in Europe that is valid across forges. A seal that holds good whichever forge made the knife, and that therefore builds a bridge between all genuine Laguiole and Thiers knives.

The certificate itself remains free for every knife bought at original-laguiole.de. The card is its printed companion.

Does your Laguiole not have an A.I.P.C.L. certificate of authenticity yet?

You can have it registered afterwards, no matter where you bought the knife. We check from your photographs whether it really comes from a French forge, assign it to that forge and register it under its own number. Your knife then has the same page and the same document as any knife bought from us.

The examination costs 10.00 euros. If the result is negative, we refund it.
