The LAGUIOLE-KRONE
Once a year, collectors themselves choose the most beautiful Laguiole knife. No jury, no editorial team: the people who buy, collect and use these knives are the ones who vote.
Here are all winners so far. Since 2023 the vote runs in five classes, so that an everyday knife does not have to compete against a collector piece.
How the vote works
The vote has taken place since 2021 in the OLC, the Original Laguiole community. It runs for three days and follows the same course every year.
The selection
Every year more than 300 new knives are added. Thirty to fifty of them are picked, across all cutleries and handle materials. Only new models of that year can stand for election.
Five classes
The nominated knives are split into five classes, with 5 to 15 knives each. That way an everyday knife does not compete against a collector piece, and every class gets its own crown.
Three days of voting
Each participant has one vote per class, cast with a thumbs up. Until you have voted, you see neither the votes nor the comments of the others. Everyone decides for themselves.
The knife of the year
The winning knife is then made again by the cutlery, with a laser engraving on the back of the blade or the inside of the spring. What comes out of it is a small run that will never exist in this form again.
Who votes
Only customers of original-laguiole.de may vote. So this is not an online poll, but the choice of people who actually own and use these knives.
What it means for a cutlery
A crown cannot be bought and cannot be advertised for. It tells a cutlery which of its knives truly reached the collectors. Often enough it is a model they would never have expected.

Cutlery ranking
Does your Laguiole not have an A.I.P.C.L. certificate of authenticity yet?
You can have it registered afterwards, no matter where you bought the knife. We check from your photographs whether it really comes from a French forge, assign it to that forge and register it under its own number. Your knife then has the same page and the same document as any knife bought from us.
The examination costs 10.00 euros. If the result is negative, we refund it.
